6/7/2023 0 Comments Contraste sierrenoBoth Collins and Clinton remain active and funkin', and have offered their timeless grooves to collabs with younger artists, including Kali Uchis, Silk Sonic, and Omar Apollo and Kendrick Lamar, Flying Lotus, and Thundercat, respectively. Legendary funk bassist Bootsy Collins learned the power of the one from playing in Brown's band, and brought it to George Clinton, who created P-funk, an expansive, Afrofuturistic, psychedelic exploration of funk with his various bands and projects, including Parliament-Funkadelic. Of course, many other funk acts followed in the '60s, and the genre thrived in the '70s and '80s as the disco craze came and went, and the originators of hip-hop and house music created new music from funk and disco's strong, flexible bones built for dancing. As David Cheal eloquently explains, playing on the one "left space for phrases and riffs, often syncopated around the beat, creating an intricate, interlocking grid which could go on and on." You know a funky bassline when you hear it its fat chords beg your body to get up and groove.īrown's 1965 classic, "Papa's Got a Brand New Bag," became one of the first funk hits, and has been endlessly sampled and covered over the years, along with his other groovy tracks. The Godfather of Soul coined the phrase and style of playing known as "on the one," where the first downbeat is emphasized, instead of the typical second and fourth beats in pop, soul and other styles. It's rare that a genre can be traced back to a single artist or group, but for funk, that was James Brown. His brother, lead singer Eduin Caz, sings about the band's message of inclusiveness and tells off naysayers in "Cada Quien," which features Colombian superstar Maluma. The band has also become a bright spot of LGBTQ+ representation in the genre, as member Jhonny Caz is openly gay. Perhaps their 2020 album title said it best: Nos Divertimos Logrando Lo Imposible, which translates to "We Have Fun Achieving the Impossible." Their infectious melodies and free-spirited performances also helped them earn a Latin GRAMMY for Best Banda Album in 2021 and a slot on the Coachella bill this year. That's been further proven by their impressive streaming numbers: At press time, the music video for their kiss-off track "Ya Superame" has more than 305 million views on YouTube alone, and the raucous "El Toxico" (featuring fellow Mexican singer Carin Leon) has more than 413 million. Through their brassy banda music anthems, the seven-piece group have amassed millions of fans in and outside of the genre. Grupo Firme have become mavericks to watch out for in regional Mexican music. As we celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, is spotlighting six acts who are refreshing regional Mexican music. and Mexico have put their own stamp on the traditional genre, even breaking records in the process. In the few years since, many more Gen-Z acts from both the U.S. Nodal fused mariachi and norteño music, while Cano ushered in corridos tumbados, which put a hip-hop and trap twist on traditional corridos. Mexican singers Christian Nodal and Natanael Cano spearheaded the movement, pushing regional Mexican music up the charts in 20, respectively. Though all of them are sadly no longer with us, a new crop of artists are reviving and redefining the sound of regional Mexican music - and helping the age-old genre connect with a younger audience. Along with Fernández and Rivera, artists that have defined the genre over the past few decades include Pedro Infante, Juan Gabriel, Selena, and Ariel Camacho. Regional Mexican music is a catch-all term that encompasses several music styles that are native to Mexico, including norteño, banda, mariachi, and ranchera music. Now, a new generation of artists - from both sides of the Mexico–United States border - are helping the genre continue to evolve, while also reaching bigger global success than ever before. The sound of regional Mexican music has endured for centuries, thanks to Mexican crooners and balladeers like the late greats Vicente Fernández and Jenni Rivera. 6/7/2023 0 Comments Workbench in apache jmeter 4.0I have attached the screenshot below in the ApacheJmeter. The awesome folks at abstracta have put up an amazing amount of work to deliver JMeter-DSL, which allows developers to use plain Java to script their load test scenarios, and pretty much solve all the pain mentioned above. It is quite difficult to extend JMeter and it requires a GUI editor which means to use additional development environment instead of using a single IDE for all needs. Other limitations include difficulty to share code between different projects, using source control management tools such as git or svn. With JMeter, this was even more painful without a proper package management system such as maven or gradle. This became very clear when log4j vulnerability was discovered, and software developers needed to instantly upgrade their log4j versions. All sorts of entities use MOUs to create guidelines for each party as they contribute their efforts and resources toward important projects. MOUs are less formal than contracts, and typically include fewer details and complexities, but they are more formal than handshake agreements, sometimes called gentlemen's agreements. Contracts are necessary when there is any sort of exchange of money because they help to protect the interests of both parties and ensure trust. A contract is a written, private agreement between two parties that is legally binding and can be enforced by a judge.Ĭontracts spell out the nitty-gritty obligations of each party which, if breached, can spell dire consequences for the entity that breaks it. You might think that memoranda of understanding sound suspiciously similar to contracts, but there are actually significant differences between the two. And here are two other touchstones of MOUs - generally they're not legally binding, in part because neither party wants to deal with the ramifications of a binding agreement, and they don't involve the exchange of money. No matter their length or complexity, MOUs specify mutually-accepted expectations between two or more people or organizations as they labor together toward a common objective. Others are long-winded and extremely detailed. MOUs are very common and are used for domestic purposes and agreements between nations. 6/7/2023 0 Comments Mozilla firefox extensionsThe name of the add-on is self-explanatory. Most modern networks will not benefit from separating out their modem and router. Depending on the manufacturer, though, you may find these marketed as ‘routers with integrated modems’. Gateway or separate modem and router?ĭevices that combine the capabilities of both a router and a modem are sometimes called gateways. Whilst it’s possible to purchase a standalone modem, though, it is actually rarer in the real world than using a combined router and modem - what is sometimes referred to as a ‘gateway’. Most networking products containing a modem contain either (i) a mobile data modem (3G/4G/5G) for (de)modulating RF signals, (ii) a DSL modem, or (iii) a Fibre modem, which translates the flashes of light sent through fibre optic cable into electrical signals that a device’s logic board can understand. 4G modems have to be able to demodulate the alternating current created in the element of a 4G antenna when it interacts with the variable frequencies of a radio wave travelling through space.Fibre modems convert binary flashes of light into a digital signal interpretable by your PC.DSL modems demodulate analogue signals coming through copper telephone lines. You’ll therefore need a specific type of modem depending on your type of internet connection.ĭSL modems, 4G modems and fibre modems each deal with a different kind of signal. The variable frequencies of 4G and 5G radiofrequency (RF) signals.ĭepending on the type of signal being used to provide a connection, the modem will work slightly differently. The alternating current carried down a copper wire.Since analogue signals can be translated, or ‘modulated’, into analogue and back again, there are many more methods available to us when it comes to transporting data over long distances. Successfully transporting a digital signal over long distances at high speeds is, at present, limited to a select few technologies (including fibre optic cable).Įven in these instances, the signal has to be converted into a digital signal that can be interpreted by your devices’ components.įor this reason, it’s necessary for circuits to be able to use both analogue and digital signals. This is necessary because computers operate through binary electrical signals, which are digital in nature. In networking, a modem is a device that modulates and demodulates (hence the name mod + dem = modem) a signal between analogue and digital states. This connection is known as a wide area network, or WAN for short. Modem vs Router: What’s the Difference? What is a modem?Ī modem is a device that connects your local network to the Internet. A router directs traffic through your network to specific devices. A modem is a device that translates analogue signals into digital and vice versa. Atkins' version used a similar tempo and showcased his country guitar picking style in place of a saxophone. Guitarist Chet Atkins recorded a version of the song in 1965 called "Yakety Axe".Randolph first recorded "Yakety Sax" that year for RCA Victor, but it did not become a hit until he re-recorded it for Monument Records in 1963 this version reached number 35 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The tunes are similar, and both feature the "yakety" saxophone sound. Randolph's take on the piece was inspired by the saxophone solo played by King Curtis on The Coasters' 1958 recording of the Leiber and Stoller song " Yakety Yak". The piece also quotes two bars each of " Entrance of the Gladiators" and " The Girl I Left Behind". The selection includes pieces of assorted fiddle tunes and was originally composed by Rich for a performance at a venue called The Armory in Hopkinsville, Kentucky. The piece is considered Randolph's signature work. Comedian Benny Hill later made it more widely known as the closing theme music of The Benny Hill Show. And just like that, I was in the yarmulke business. Once the state approved the concept, we took 25 of those samples and sent them to Jewish schools all over the country. The boys liked it, so I decided to send samples to the Florida High School Athletic Association in Tallahassee. I ended up creating a sample and gave it to the boys to use during practice. I had seen wig clips before, and I thought of this idea to sew wig clips into yarmulkes. One year, our application letter got rejected and their reasoning was that the yarmulke clips could be dangerous during the sport.
